WoW Daily New Player Article 3: First steps into WoW

Here are the basics, if you just stepped into World Of Warcraft.

How to Move - You move by either the arrow keys or by pressing both mouse buttons down. (Or WASD)

Mini Map - Your mini map is the circle in the top right corner of your screen. It provides more detail about near by areas than the map does. This is a very important feature to understand, so I reccomend playing around with it for a couple minutes to know how it works.

What do the symbols above peoples head mean?
Yellow Exclamation Point - This means that you can pick up a quest(s) from this person. You should pick up all quests you see in the area you are questing in.

Grey Exclamation Point - This means this person has a quest, but you are too low level to pick it up.

Yellow Question Mark - This means you have completed the quest that this person gave you, go up to him and right click him to get the quest rewards.

Grey Question Mark - This means you are in progress of the quest this person gave you, when you complete it, it will turn yellow.

Chat Log - This is in the bottom left corner of your screen. When someone talks, or wants to communicate with you then it will appear there. By pressing your enter key you can type. To type in a certain channel you have to press certain commands. Here are the basic ones.

/g  is guild chat
/s is say (can be heard by people nearby)
/p is party chat
/1 is general chat (Can be heard by anyone in your area)

There are more, but those are the basic ones.

Enemies - If you go explore, you can put your cursor over different creatures. If it is a enemy, It will tell its level, its race, the name of the enemy, and if you need it for a quest, it will tell you how many more you need to kill.

Loot - Almost all enemies offer loot. When you kill an enemy get close to it, then right click it. It should bring up a screen with items, click on the ones you want (You might as well loot all of them because you can always sell it to a vendor).

Inventory - Your inventory is everything that your character owns (Besides the bank, but that will be for a later guide). Press B to bring up your inventory.

Have fun, Game Hard
